Water Exhibit Of Contemporary Art

Water is an exciting new exhibit at Vesterheim from Nordic 5 Arts that explores our
world’s most essential natural resource as a source of survival, life, and livelihoods.
Nineteen contemporary artists with ties to the Nordic countries have created works that
respond to the theme of water. Some artists reflect on immigrant journeys by ship or
plane across the Atlantic Ocean. Others reflect on the state of water in the face of
climate change and the relationship between the Nordic countries and water.

Founded by Kati Casida in 1993, Nordic 5 Arts is an international organization of
professional artists based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Nordic 5 Arts presents a
unique Nordic/Scandinavian expression in the visual arts and contributes to the
diversity of the arts in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. The organization also

"Nordic Light” exhibition of paintings, prints, photographs, textiles, video art, and sculptures in ceramic and stone.
Participating Members of Nordic Five Arts—Tracey Benson, Colette Crutcher, Ulla De Larios, Olivia Eielson, Ellen Faris, Pam Fingado, Marc Ellen Hamel, Charlotta Hauksdottir, Maj-Britt Hilstrom, Debra Jewell, Karen Olsen, Pernilla Persson, Diane Rusnak, Helene Sobol, Barbara Stevens Strauss, Helena Tiainen, Jenny Wantuch, and Lee Williams.

Nordic Five Arts is a group of professional artists born in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and American artists of Scandinavian descent. Connections to that heritage are expressed in their work through a deep feeling for landscape, a bond with the cycles of nature, and an elegant design sense. In this exhibition they explore the theme of Nordic Light.

Nordic Voyage Is All About A Sense Of Place

Finnish born artist and Berkeley, CA, resident, Helena Tiainen, will be participating in the "Nordic Voyage: A Sense of Place" exhibit with other members of the Nordic 5 Arts Group. This exhibit theme is about the direct or ancestral immigrant experience from the Nordic countries to the United States as presented in the artworks of Nordic 5 Arts artists. There will be an Opening Reception for this exhibit on March 1, from 7 to 9 pm, and this exhibit runs from March 2 until April 7, 2018. The location is the Harrington Gallery at the Firehouse Arts Center and the address is 4444 Railroad Avenue in Pleasanton, CA. Gallery hours are Wed - Fri, 12 - 5 and Sat 11 - 3. The Us Show At Blue Line Arts

Helena Tiainen is participating in The 'Us' show at the Coker Main Gallery at Blue Line Arts located at 405 Vernon Street in Roseville, California. The 'Us' show is an artistic reflection on our diversity with thirty participating artists born around the world and now living in the United States. Helena Tiainen is participating with two of her paintings, Synchronicity and Openly Green. This beauty of diversity celebration exhibit will be up from December 1st, 2017 through January 13th, 2018. Opening reception on December 16 starts with five Artist Talks at 5 PM and the Art Reception follows from 6 until 8:30 PM. There are altogether five galleries at the Blue Line Arts, all with their individual exhibits, so there is plenty of art to see and enjoy! Runes Revealed At The Adobe Art Gallery

Adobe Art Gallery presents Nordic 5 Arts Runes Revealed Mixed Media Group Exhibition from 12/2/2017 until 1/13/18 at 20395 San Miquel Avenue, Castro Vallery, CA. Helena Tiainen is participating with three of her acrylic paintings on stretched canvas: Learning to See, Inspired and The Gift with another 24 artists each exhibiting one or more works inspired by the runes. Artist Helena Tiainen is now working in collaboration with San Francisco based sustainable fashion company VIDA. She has just launched her first collection with VIDA and is looking forward to collaborating with this socially conscious company whose sales benefit the makers of the products by offering education, such as reading, math and writing to the workers in India and Pakistan who otherwise would not have the opportunity to be educated. Artist Helena Tiainen is participating with two of her paintings, "Learning to See" and "Inspired", in the Nordic 5 Arts "Runes Revealed" Group Exhibit at the San Pablo Art Gallery in San Pablo, California. You are all invited to the opening reception on July 25, from 1 until 3 PM and the exhibit itself will be up from July 25 until August 23, 2015. The gallery is located at 13831 San Pablo Avenue, Building 4, San Pablo, CA 94806 and is a part of the City of San Pablo Community Services. The gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays, 12 noon to 4 PM. You can also call Anne Austin at 510 882 8673 to arrange for a private viewing appointment. Please, call during weekdays.
